Retinal imaging is a painless procedure that takes digital images of the back of the eye to help detect and monitor eye conditions. It’s a key part of a comprehensive eye exam and can be used to detect eye conditions. The procedure is quick, easy, and safe — it does not use radiation.

It is not a substitute for dilation, but it can be an option for patients who prefer not to have their pupils dilated.
